Warranties
Aftermarket parts are warranted by the company that made them. Our job is to get you the right part and to stand behind what we sold you when something goes wrong.
Who warrants what
- The manufacturer warrants the part against defects in materials and workmanship. Terms vary by manufacturer and by part — a set of gaskets and a rebuilt carburettor are not the same promise.
- We are responsible for sending you the right part, in one piece, described accurately. Wrong, damaged or misdescribed is ours to fix — see returns and exchanges.
- No part carries a Harley-Davidson factory warranty. These are aftermarket parts and we are not a dealer. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.
What voids a warranty, near enough universally
- Racing or competition use.
- Improper installation — wrong torque, missing shims, the wrong sealant.
- Modifying the part, including drilling, welding or re-plating it.
- Damage from an unrelated failure: a bearing that fails because the oil pump was already gone is not a defective bearing.
- Ordinary wear. Brake pads, tyres, belts, plugs and filters wear out; that is the job.
A warranty covers a part that was faulty when it arrived. It does not cover the labour to fit it, the labour to remove it, towing, or the ride you missed — the manufacturer's liability is the part.
About your own motorcycle's warranty
Under the US Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer generally cannot void your vehicle's warranty simply because you fitted an aftermarket part. They can decline a claim if that specific part caused the specific failure. If you are inside a factory warranty and about to change something significant, know where you stand before you start.
Making a claim
When we are open: contact us with your order number, the part number, what happened and photographs. We take it up with the manufacturer or distributor on your behalf. We would much rather chase it for you than leave you on hold to someone else's warranty desk.
