Step-by-Step Instructions

Headlight (H7) — Low and High Beam (Separate Bulbs)

The 2025 Super Tenere uses H7 headlight bulbs — one for low beam and one for high beam — housed in the tall adventure-style nose cowling. The fairing and tall windscreen must be partially removed for access.

Important: The Super Tenere's tall windscreen and nose fairing require careful sequential removal to avoid cracking the plastic or stressing mounting tabs.

Step 1: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. Allow the headlight to cool for at least 15 minutes.

Step 2: Remove the four upper windscreen bolts (8mm) along the top edge. Carefully lift the windscreen off and set on a soft surface.

Step 3: Remove the upper nose fairing bolts (10mm) along the top edge of the nose cowling. Typically 3-4 bolts.

Step 4: Remove the side mirror bolts if they pass through or block access to the fairing (8mm or 10mm).

Step 5: Release any plastic clips along the fairing side seams. Use a panel clip tool to avoid marring painted surfaces.

Step 6: Gently pull the nose fairing forward and slightly upward to release it. Be careful — wiring for turn signals and the headlight may still be connected. Disconnect any turn signal harnesses that route through the nose fairing.

Step 7: Access the H7 headlight housing from behind. Disconnect the electrical connector from the low beam H7 bulb base.

Step 8: Remove the rubber dust boot from the rear of the headlight housing.

Step 9: Release the wire retainer clip by pressing inward and sliding it away from the bulb tabs.

Step 10: Pull the old H7 bulb straight out. Do not touch the glass — handle by the metal base only.

Step 11: Open the new H7 bulb with nitrile gloves on.

Step 12: Insert the new H7 bulb, aligning the two locating tabs on the base. Push firmly to seat.

Step 13: Reinstall the wire retainer clip — it should snap securely and hold the bulb firmly.

Step 14: Reinstall the rubber dust boot. Align marks and press evenly for a full seal.

Step 15: Repeat Steps 7-14 for the high beam H7 bulb (separate housing location in the same fairing).

Step 16: Reconnect both electrical connectors.

Step 17: Test with ignition ON — verify low beam, then toggle to high beam.

Step 18: Reinstall the nose fairing: reconnect turn signal harnesses, engage the fairing onto its mounting tabs, and reinstall all bolts from top down. Torque to spec.

Step 19: Reinstall the windscreen with 8mm bolts to 2.0-3.0 Nm.

Step 20: Verify headlight beam alignment (see Tips section).

Front Turn Signals (1157NA) — Amber

Step 1: The Super Tenere front turn signals are mounted on the lower fairing sides near the crash bars. Access through fairing service openings or by partially removing the lower fairing panels.

Step 2: If needed, remove the lower fairing side panel screws (typically Phillips or 8mm) for clear access.

Step 3: Pull the rubber access grommet at the rear of each turn signal housing to expose the socket.

Step 4: Turn the socket counterclockwise (quarter-turn) and pull it out.

Step 5: Remove the old 1157NA bulb (press in, turn counterclockwise).

Step 6: Install the new 1157NA amber bulb (press in, turn clockwise to lock bayonet base).

Step 7: Test with turn signal switch — check for normal amber flash rate.

Step 8: Reinsert socket and turn clockwise to lock.

Step 9: Reseat rubber grommet completely for full weather seal — critical for adventure use.

Step 10: Reinstall any lower fairing panels removed.

Rear Turn Signals (1157NA) — Amber

Step 1: The rear turn signals are mounted on a bracket behind the rear seat/seat cowl area of the Super Tenere.

Step 2: Pull back the rubber access grommet on each housing.

Step 3: Turn the socket counterclockwise and pull out the bulb assembly.

Step 4: Remove the old 1157NA bulb (press in, turn counterclockwise).

Step 5: Install the new 1157NA amber bulb (press in, turn clockwise to lock).

Step 6: Test with the turn signal switch.

Step 7: Reinsert socket, turn clockwise to lock.

Step 8: Fully reseat rubber grommets.

Tail / Brake Light (1157) — Dual Contact

Step 1: The Super Tenere tail light is integrated into the rear fender assembly beneath the rear seat/seat cowl.

Step 2: Remove the rear seat if needed — typically unlocked with the ignition key or a simple unlatch mechanism.

Step 3: Remove the Phillips screws (typically 2-3) securing the tail light lens to the housing.

Step 4: Gently separate the lens from the housing to expose the bulb sockets.

Step 5: Identify the 1157 dual-contact tail/brake socket.

Step 6: Turn the socket counterclockwise and remove it.

Step 7: Remove the old 1157 bulb (push in, turn counterclockwise).

Step 8: Install the new 1157 dual-contact bulb: push in, turn clockwise. The offset bayonet pins ensure correct orientation.

Step 9: Reinsert the socket and turn clockwise to lock.

Step 10: Reattach the lens and tighten Phillips screws to 1.0-1.5 Nm.

Step 11: Test all functions: tail (ignition ON), brake (front and rear), turn signals through tail housing.

Step 12: Reinstall the rear seat.

License Plate Light (194 / W5W / T10)

Step 1: The license plate light is mounted on the rear fender just above the license plate bracket.

Step 2: Remove the Phillips screw or pry off the lens cover.

Step 3: Pull the old 194 wedge bulb straight out (friction fit).

Step 4: Push the new 194 bulb into the socket — fits only one way.

Step 5: Reinstall the lens cover and secure.

Step 6: Verify illumination with ignition ON.

Position Lamp (T10/W5W)

Step 1: The Super Tenere has a T10/W5W position lamp (running/position light) integrated into the headlight bezel area.

Step 2: Access from behind the nose fairing (requires nose fairing removal — see headlight section).

Step 3: Locating the small T10 socket in the headlight assembly, pull the old wedge bulb straight out.

Step 4: Push the new T10/W5W bulb into the socket.

Step 5: Verify operation with ignition ON.

Side Marker Light (T4.2 Wedge) — If Equipped

Step 1: Some Super Tenere models have small T4.2 wedge marker lights on the fairing sides.

Step 2: Access from behind the fairing panel (requires panel removal).

Step 3: Pull the old T4.2 wedge bulb straight out and push the new one in.

Step 4: Verify operation and reinstall all fairing panels.

Auxiliary / Fog Lamp (H8) — If Equipped

Step 1: The Super Tenere may come with factory auxiliary/fog lamps mounted in the lower fairing.

Step 2: Access the rear of the fog lamp housing from inside the lower fairing (through access panel or by removing it).

Step 3: Disconnect the electrical connector.

Step 4: Remove the rubber dust cover by twisting counterclockwise.

Step 5: Release the wire retainer clip and pull out the old H8 bulb.

Step 6: Install the new H8 bulb, aligning the three tabs. Secure with the retainer clip.

Step 7: Reinstall the dust cover and reconnect the connector.

Step 8: Test by activating the fog lamp switch on the handlebar controls.

Tips, Warnings & Common Mistakes

Headlight Alignment After Replacement

  1. Park the Super Tenere upright on level ground, 25 feet from a flat wall.
  2. Measure the headlight center height (approximately 42-45 inches / 107-114 cm due to the tall adventure-touring posture).
  3. Draw a horizontal reference line at measured height and a second line 2 inches below.
  4. With low beam active, the bright zone cutoff should be at or below the lower line.
  5. Adjust via the vertical adjustment screw(s) on the headlight rear. Access through the fairing opening.
