Step-by-Step Instructions

Headlight (LED Daymaker Sealed Assembly)

CVO Street Glide comes from the factory with an integrated LED Daymaker Headlight. The entire sealed LED module serves as the headlight — there is no replaceable halogen or HID bulb inside. If the headlight assembly fails, the entire Daymaker unit must be replaced.

Step 1: Turn the ignition OFF and disconnect the battery negative terminal for safety.

Step 2: Remove the headlight trim ring by unscrewing the T-25 Torx bolts securing it to the batwing fairing. Set the trim ring and bolts aside safely.

Step 3: Disconnect the main electrical connector from the rear of the Daymaker headlight assembly.

Step 4: Remove the three or four mounting bolts/nuts that hold the Daymaker headlight assembly to the fairing bracket from behind.

Step 5: Carefully pull the Daymaker headlight assembly forward and out of the fairing.

Step 6: Transfer any included mounting brackets or washers from the old unit to the new Daymaker headlight assembly.

Step 7: Insert the new Daymaker headlight assembly into the fairing opening from the front.

Step 8: Reinstall the mounting bolts from behind. Tighten evenly but do not overtighten — the assembly is sealed and does not need excessive torque.

Step 9: Reconnect the electrical connector. Push firmly until it clicks.

Step 10: Reconnect the battery negative terminal.

Step 11: Test the headlight: turn ignition on and verify low beam operation. Switch to high beam and verify both modes work.

Step 12: Reinstall the headlight trim ring and T-25 screws. Tighten evenly and snug.

Step 13: Verify headlight beam aim (see alignment procedure in the Tips section below).

Front Turn Signals (1157NA) — Amber

Step 1: Turn the handlebars for access to each front turn signal mounted on the lower fork legs.

Step 2: Pull back the rubber access grommet at the rear of the turn signal housing.

Step 3: Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise (approximately a quarter-turn) and pull it straight out of the housing.

Step 4: Remove the old 1157NA amber bulb by pressing it into the bayonet socket and turning counterclockwise to unlock.

Step 5: Insert the new 1157NA amber bulb. Push it in and turn clockwise until it locks into place.

Step 6: Before reassembly, test the turn signal by activating it with the ignition on.

Step 7: Reinsert the socket into the housing and turn clockwise to lock.

Step 8: Reseat the rubber access grommet fully to prevent moisture intrusion.

Rear Turn Signals (1157NA) — Amber

Step 1: Access the rear turn signals from behind the rear fender rails.

Step 2: Pull back the rubber access grommet behind each turn signal housing.

Step 3: Turn the socket counterclockwise and pull it out.

Step 4: Remove the old 1157NA bulb (press in, turn counterclockwise).

Step 5: Install the new 1157NA amber bulb (press in, turn clockwise).

Step 6: Test and verify operation before reassembly.

Step 7: Reinsert the socket and turn clockwise to lock.

Step 8: Fully reseat the rubber grommet.

Tail / Brake Light (1157) — Dual Contact

Step 1: Locate the tail light housing on the rear fender extension.

Step 2: Remove the T-25 Torx screws (typically two) securing the housing to the fender bracket.

Step 3: Gently pull the housing backward to expose the bulb sockets.

Step 4: Identify the tail/brake bulb socket (center).

Step 5: Turn the socket counterclockwise and remove.

Step 6: Remove the old 1157 bulb (push in, turn counterclockwise).

Step 7: Install the new 1157 dual-contact bulb (push in, turn clockwise).

Step 8: Reinsert the socket into the housing and turn clockwise to lock.

Step 9: Test all three modes: - Ignition ON: the dim tail filament should illuminate - Brake applied: the bright brake filament should activate - Turn signal activated: the appropriate bulb should flash

Step 10: Reinstall the tail light housing and tighten the T-25 screws.

Front Running Lights (1157)

The CVO Street Glide shares the front running light function with the front turn signal 1157 bulbs. The dim filament provides the running light; the bright filament provides the turn signal. No separate running light bulbs required on standard CVO configurations.

License Plate Light (194 / W5W / T10)

Step 1: Locate the license plate light on the rear fender, adjacent to the license plate bracket.

Step 2: Reach up from behind the fender to locate the wedge-based socket.

Step 3: Pull the socket straight out (no twisting for wedge bulbs).

Step 4: Pull the old 194 bulb straight out of the socket.

Step 5: Push the new 194 bulb firmly into the socket, aligning the contacts with the terminals.

Step 6: Reinsert the socket into the housing.

Step 7: Verify that the license plate is properly illuminated with the ignition on.

Auxiliary Lamps (H11) — If Equipped

Step 1: Locate the auxiliary lamp(s) mounted on the lower engine guard or fairing support.

Step 2: Access the rear of each auxiliary lamp and remove the rubber dust cover by turning counterclockwise.

Step 3: Disconnect the electrical connector.

Step 4: Press the wire retainer inward and slide clear of the H11 bulb tabs.

Step 5: Remove the old H11 bulb.

Step 6: Insert the new H11 bulb, align tabs, and secure with the retainer clip.

Step 7: Reconnect the electrical connector and replace the dust cover.

Step 8: Test with ignition on.

Tips, Warnings & Common Mistakes

Daymaker LED Headlight — Important Notes

Headlight Alignment After Headlight Assembly Replacement

  1. Park the CVO Street Glide upright on level ground, 25 feet from a flat wall.
  2. Measure from the ground to the center of the Daymaker headlight.
  3. Draw reference lines: one at measured height, one 2 inches below.
  4. With low beam on, the sharp LED cutoff of the Daymaker light should be at or below the lower line.
  5. Adjust using the adjustment screws on the rear bracket. The Daymaker has precision alignment — take extra care.

LED vs. Halogen — Remaining Bulbs (Turn Signals, Tail, Running Lights)

Feature Halogen LED
Brightness Good Excellent (up to 3x)
Color Temperature 3200K warm 6000K daylight
Lifespan 500-1000 hours 25,000-50,000 hours
Power Draw Higher (28.3/8.3W) Lower
Heat High Low
Cost $10-20 $30-80
Plug-and-play Yes May need load equalizers for turn signals

LED Flasher Note: The CVO's CAN bus system monitors turn signal load. If replacing with LEDs, use load equalizer resistors or replace the flasher relay with an LED-compatible module to prevent hyper-flashing.
